Cameroonian footballers made their mark across the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League this week, with André Onana producing an impressive goalkeeping display for Trabzonspor, Mahamadou Nagida scoring for Rennes and Yvan Dibango making history with three assists for LASK.

Dibango was one of the biggest talking points after becoming only the second Cameroonian player, after Samuel Eto’o, to provide three assists in a single UEFA Champions League match. The left-back delivered an outstanding individual performance for LASK, who suffered a 6-3 defeat to Liverpool. Despite the result, Dibango’s creativity and attacking contribution underlined his growing influence at European level.

Onana also deserves special recognition following Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over KuPS. The Cameroon international played the full 90 minutes and produced several important interventions, including a penalty save, to help his team secure the win. Although he conceded directly from a corner, the former Manchester United and Inter Milan goalkeeper responded with crucial saves and maintained an important presence between the posts. His overall performance was a positive contribution to Trabzonspor’s European campaign.

Mahamadou Nagida was another Cameroonian to make headlines after scoring for Rennes in their 2-1 victory over OFI Crete. The defender found the equaliser in the 76th minute before Aït Boudlal struck late to seal the win. Nagida’s goal provided a significant contribution to Rennes’ success and further strengthened his case for greater involvement with the French side.

Elsewhere, Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba and Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo featured in their side’s 2-0 defeat to Atlético Madrid. Harold Moukoudi started for AEK Athens in their 3-1 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk, with the Cameroon defender coming close to scoring when his header struck the post. Karl Gameni Wassom also featured for Riga FC in their 1-1 draw against Kairat Almaty, while Alioum Moubarak started for Jablonec before being substituted in the 66th minute of their 3-2 defeat to Freiburg.

Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu was expected to be involved as Pafos FC faced Atalanta, with the Cypriot side losing 3-1. André-Frank Zambo Anguissa’s involvement for Napoli against Villarreal could not be confirmed. Overall, Onana, Nagida and Dibango were among the most notable Cameroonian performers of the week, with their respective contributions offering encouraging signs for the national team and their clubs.
