  • Onana withdrew from the Cameroon squad after the 3-0 win against Mauritius Island
  • Man United was initially worried he could be absent for a while
He returned to Manchester and began training
  • Ten Hag says he could return for the Everton game on Sunday at Guddison Park

Manchester United FC manager, Erik Ten Hag has confirmed Andre Onana Onana is doing well barely days after he returned to England before the end of the international break due to an undisclosed injury.

Ten Hag told the media in the media meeting this Friday in Manchester that the 27-year-old Cameroon international has fully recovered and engaged with the rest of his colleagues ahead of the game against Everton this Sunday.

Onana limped off injured ten minutes from time during Cameroon’s 3-0 win against Mauritius Island in the opening 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers game last Friday in Douala but has quickly recovered upon his return to Manchester.

Ten Hag says he has trained well and is apt to face Everton though he didn’t state whether his first choice keeper will play or not.

“He has trained and he will be in the squad this weekend,” the Dutch manager revealed.

Onana is currently ranked second in the pecking order of goalkeepers with most clean sheets in this season’s Premier League.

His return means he is contention to play just like back up Altay Bayindir who joined last summer and still awaits his debut through a very rough start for his Cameroonian competitor for the single spot between the sticks.
