Former Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Nasiru Jibril has been praised by collaborators and colleagues for his brilliant man-management style during the ongoing African Nations Championship, (CHAN).
The former Kano Pillars skipper deployed to serve as General Coordinator (GC) in the North east of Algeria in the city of Annaba brought his A-game to the fold creating a remarkable atmosphere for the different services to deliver.
Pool B teams; Cote D’Ivoire, Senegal, Uganda and DR Congo, plus Ethiopia and Libya who came to complete their Group stage commitments in the coastal city just like quarter-finalists Mauritania lauded the former deputy technical director of the Nigeria football federation for his accommodating approach.
Senegal and Mauritania who had been in the West African Football Union (WAFU) tournament with the 51-year-old marked their first meeting in Annaba with a smile (Oga Na You) before the start of any former activity.
Senegal took it a step further
The Senegalese football federation in their trademark hospitality received Nasiru in style. After the first meeting between the GC on January 10, the latter’s team and members of the Senegalese delegation were about leaving the hall when they were recalled for an unplanned part of the event.
In a rare show of appreciation and in recognition of Nasiru’s input in the game over the years, captain Moutarou Balde and head of delegation Pape Sidy Lo handed a frame and a trophy to the former Golden Eagles midfielder.

Pape, an executive committee member of the Senegalese football federation then appealed all members of the Senegalese delegation to collaborate and render operations easy for Jibril and his team – exactly what the Senegalese have done throughout the tournament.
In all, Jibril’s soft spoken and his professional touch made life easy for all collaborators during a three weeks period in the coastal city.
Many of those in Group B of the CHAN 2022 will remember Annaba for its cold, but most important of all the smooth operations during seven matches of the competition reserved for players plying their trade in their country.
The former NFF Transfer matching system manager closed his venue and returned home last weekend but on the socials of the competition’s local organising committee many are still showering praises for his impact in Annaba during the seventh edition of the CHAN.
Born in Sokoto in 1972, the holder of a Masters of Science degree in Sports and Technology from AISTS in Laussane, Switzerland has been around for a while rendering services to CAF and FIFA as GC, but above all inspiring the next generation in the different service of the beautiful game.
Hosts Algeria, Madagascar, Niger and Senegal who knighted JIbril are still in the race to replace 2020 winners Morocco as the new champions of the CHAN.
The CHAN 2022 will climax on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, Algeria.
