Lekie FF’s goal poacher, Marie Gisele Ngah Manga has vowed to work harder and come back stronger after her omission from Cameroon’s final squad for the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup playoffs.

Ngah Manga who has been one of the most performant players for Lekie this season in the Guinness Super League, was dropped by head coach Gabriel Zabo last week.

The 20-year-old former UEFA women’s Champions League player has scored two goals and two assist for Lekie so far. Her input has propelled them into second spot in the league but she couldn’t make the squad and list of seven locals who headed for New Zealand.

Manga thinks her omission is rather a positive.

“No! I don’t regret not being call up. It only means those summoned are better. I can only see this as a challenge to work harder and defend the colours of the Nation tomorrow.

The center forward joined Lekie after a two-year stay at FC Okzetpes in Kazakhstan where she eventually emerged top scorer in the country’s women’s championship last season with 42 goals in 22 games played.

In a one on one discussion with team Kick442.com, the prolific striker revealed her reasons for coming back home to ply her trade in the country.

“I came back to Cameroon to revive my career after two seasons abroad. I chose Lekié because of the convincing project from the management. It’s a very ambitious young team with experienced players,” Ngah Manga explained.

“I came back to Cameroon at the end of the contract, though the club wanted me to stay longer after qualifying them. But considering certain conditions, I decided to return. I came across Lekie’s project,” she continued.

She is the reference of Lekie’s good signings this season, not forgetting the signing of Tabe Brenda for over two million CFA.

The club equally spent huge sums to grab players from defending and other former champions, which is now evident as the club remains unbeaten since the start of the league.

“I am very satisfied with Lekie Filles and the results we have had so far. The team is in a good state of mind we are very serene, focused and determined for the future,”

Lekie’s new lady have represented Cameroon’s U17 women’s National team and still dreams of going further.
