Mali has won the bronze medal in the 2023 U-17 FIFA world cup hosted by Indonesia. The Malians outplayed Argentina 3#0 to grab the bronze medal in the third place match played Friday December 1, 2023.

Mali, the runner up of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015 opened scores in the 9th minute of play through Ibrahim Diarra. The Mali captain controlled a lofted pass from Sekou Kone then placed a precision strike into the bottom corner to give his side an early lead.

Mali continued to dominate the game and deservedly got the second goal on the stroke of half-time. Makalou assist with his free-kick delivery that was headed home by Doumbia.

Though Argentina tried to get back into the match in the second half, Hamidou Makalou’s strike virtually ended the contest within three minutes of the restart.

Makalou almost scored a spectacular second when his thunderous free-kick smashed off the underside of the crossbar. There were to be no further goals, however, as Mali comfortably saw out a mightily impressive victory.
