Volcan Football Club of Noun has defeated Academie Nyom II to grab the first three points in this year’s National Interpools ongoing in Yaounde.
Second half substitute, Around Njikam Nsangou scored the late winner to hand his side all three points.
In the opening quarter of the match, both teams failed to produce any meaningful attack.
With hundreds of their Fans chanting and dancing in the stands, Volcan Football Club of Noun finally came alive in the half hour mark when El Kaduri Njimoluh’s strike from close range was saved by goalkeeper Samuel Steve Nguelle of Academie Nyom 2.
Academie Nyom 2 struggled to impose their playstyle but the midfield of Volcan was able to contain them.
Volcan FC’s Stanis Steve Bess Eko saw his shot go inches off target and two minutes after, Willy Diderot Nsokeng with a solo move from midfield was only stopped by goalkeeper Samuel Steve Nguelle who saved the strike for a corner kick.
El Kaduri Njimoluh, Stanis Steve Bess Eko, Hassan Fouapon and Willy Diderot Nsokeng all of Volcan FC of Noun mesmerized the defenders of Academie Nyom 2.
Academie Nyom’s first sight at goal came at the 43rd minute of play via Emerant Mballa Tsinga whose header went off target.
A minute after, Academie Nyom’s goalkeeper was called again into action to keep out the shot from Hassan Fouapon.
At half time, both teams failed to find the back net.
In the second half, Volcan FC of Noun failed to continue with their first half dominance as Academie Nyom 2 finally imposed their playstyle and forced their opponent into defending.
Substitute Jacque Roland Lobe Ndobo forced goalkeeper Samuel Nkono Kwedi to make his first save of the match.
Minutes later, Jacque Roland Lobe Ndobo was through one on one with goalkeeper Samuel Nkono. His shot was awful.
When both sides were visibly playing for a point, second half substitute, Around Njikam Nsangou fired home a low range from the edge of the box at the 82nd minute of the match to open scores for Volcan, therefore scoring the first goal of the 2023 national interpools.
Goalkeeper Samuel Nkono Kwedi of Volcan Football Club of Noun kept his side in the match with two saves in additional time.
In the last action of the match, Academie Nyom II’s Loic Bellamy Kouley missed a penalty that would have given his team a point.
On match day 2 to be played on Monday July 17, Volcan of Noun will clash with Isle of Hope Sports Academy while Academie Nyom 2 will be on standby.
