Defending champions, Senegal became the last team to qualify for the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) on Sunday.
The record winners of the Beach Soccer AFCON recorded a 5-1 win over Guinea at home to make it to the tournament 14-4 on aggregate.
On Saturday, Mauritania stunned two-time Africa champions Nigeria, 6-5, to end the Super Sand Eagles’ aspiration of returning to continental football after a five-year hiatus.
Mauritania qualified on the away goal rule despite a 10-10 aggregate scoreline.
Ghana’s Black Sharks also qualified for the tournament with a 5-2 victory against neighbors Cote D’Ivoire in Abidjan to complete a 10-5 aggregate win.
After a hard-fought 2-1 win over the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup host, Seychelles, Mozambique benefited from an impressive 7-3 success in the first leg to seal a 9-4 aggregate victory.
Malawi also scaled through Burundi’s hurdle 15-4 on aggregate after the return leg ended in an 8-8 draw.
In all, host, Egypt, Senegal, Ghana, Mauritania, Mozambique, Malawi, Morocco, and Tanzania will battle it out at the BSAFCON for the two tickets up for grabs as far as the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is concerned.
