Three Indomitable Lions, Martin Hongla, Nouhou Tolo and Junior Jean Onana will not answer present for the friendly game against Mexico on Sunday, June 11 in San Diego USA, leaving Rigobert Song with just 19 players.
Defense man Tolo has not been released by his club Seattle Sounders FC who are in dire need of points to outsmart St Louis and finish top in the league, thus needing their prolific right back. Meanwhile Hongla is busy with his father’s funeral preparations.
Reasons for Onana’s absence is still unclear but what is certain is that, the Lens midfielder who is one of those Song counts on following the absence of key midfielders, will miss the friendly game.
The head coach of the Indomitable lions now has just three right backs left, with Tolo being the better option. This may be a chance for Olivier Mbaizo, Malcom Bokele or Enzo Tchato to start.
With two midfielders out, Song will have to do with just four left and now five attackers instead of six summoned.
However, 14 of the remaining 19 players are already in the Lions Den and have begun preparations ahead of Sunday’s clash;
