- Authentic Ladies FC edged Fortuna of Mfou 1-0 in their match day eight
- Ngo Billong’s first-half strike was enough to secure maximum points for the visitors from Douala
Ngo Billong’s first-half goal helped Authentic Filles to an important 1-0 win this Saturday in match day eight of the 2023/24 Guinness Super League.
The lethal finisher got the winner for coach Hassan Ibrahim’s team midway into the first segment as Ngole Chelsea and co held on to their third clean sheet in a role and a fourth victory this season.
Authentic entered the contest high in confidence, largely thanks to wins of a similar score in their last two outings.
Tim Shalom and co took the game to struggling Fortuna and created the best chances in the opening moments, but poor finishing was their undoing.
The first real chance of the game fell to Kiki Meva at the 32nd minute of play, but the forward on a run of four games without scoring couldn’t add to her four goals this season.
Coach Nadia Ndeme of Fortuna pushed her team high up in an attempt to get them pressure and catch Authentic off guard, but more often than not they fell short in the final third.
Ngo Billong scored her third of the season when she benefitted from a well-worked ball that slide opened the Fortuna backline.
The opening goal gave the visitors the edge to control and dominate proceedings till the interval.
Changes from both technical crew in the second segment of the game couldn’t change a thing even with the litterny of chances.
The game ended 1-0 in favor of the visitors -their fifth victory which takes their points tally to 17 from a possible 24 this campaign and leaves them on the fourth spot on the log with two points off Lekie Filles and Louves Minprof on second and third spot respectively.
