Foncha Street FC of Bamenda picked up their second win of the 2023/24 MTN Elite Two championship on Saturday at the University of Bamenda stadium in Bambili, courtesy of goals from Emango Zidane Junior and John Njong while Raul Pafong got the consolation goal for the visitors.
Coach Mbabot Moses’ team extended their unbeaten run to four games and made it consecutive wins for the first time this season in the tight contest decided by their better finishing on the day.
Emango scored the opener just 11 minutes into the game. The former Njalla Quan Sports Academy forward took advantage of the early dominance of Foncha Street FC to put them ahead.
Pafong leveled for the visitors hoping to get a point away from home for a second match day running.
The 44th minute goal from Pafong was his second of the season and the first Foncha Street had conceded this term in Bamenda.
However, Njong, scorer of the winner in the last home game against Renaissance stepped up and ensured all three points remained in Bamenda as his 53rd minute goal ended up being the winner.
Both sides should have scored from their numerous chances during the rest of the game but it wasn’t to be.
Foncha Street FC moves out of the relegation playoffs positions ahead of their last game of the first round away to Unisport of Bafang in the coming Saturday.
