The Cameroon Football Federation known in its french acronym as FECAFOOT, has been ordered to pay 106 Millions FCFA as reparations to Astres of Douala. This after the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) found FECAFOOT guilty of breach of contract.
The Cameroon Elite One club, Astres dragged FECAFOOT to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) a few months ago after the Samuel Eto’o-led football managing body in Cameroon refused to honor its predecessors obligations with Astres.
Astres were due 82 Millions FCFA as damage compensation agreed by FECAFOOT for denying them the chance to compete in the Elite One championship during the 2019/20 season due to the late release of a court decision to their favor after the start of the season.
The Douala football franchise had tried to cause the current administration to pay the reparation, but were met by a stiff resistance.
FECAFOOT is now condemned to pay over 20 millions in excess of the initial amount to avoid further sanctions.
Despite FECAFOOT refusal to reinstate Astres in the top-flight in that season, the club earned promotion as champions of the MTN Elite 2 championship that season.
FECAFOOT has been in the losing end of multiple court cases in recent weeks.
