Olympic Lions of Cameroon midfielder Etienne Eto’o Pineda says he is aiming to one day represent his country at senior level after successful stints at varied youth categories of the central African nation.
The Spain-based playmaker who scored in Cameroon’s final round 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Gabon expressed his desire via a post on Facebook earlier this week.
“To play for my country is always special. I want to continue working hard so my dreams don’t end here,” Eto’o wrote.
The 20-year-old has always expressed undiluted passion for his country from when he first came into the U-17 national team some four years ago.
The former Real Mallorca skipper went on to feature for Cameroon at the 2021 U20 AFCON tournament in Mauritania and showed what he is made up of. He scored one goal and provided an assist in the tournament before graduating to the U-23s a few years later.
During his time with the Olympic Lions, the son of Cameroon football legend and FA president Samuel Eto’o has always shown he still has a lot to offer for his nation.
