Ambitious Cameroon second tier championship outfit Rangers FC of Bafut, have appointed Jeunie Merveil Nguegom as their head coach for the rest of the 2022/23 season.

Coach Nguegom replaces Tama Wango who also joined the club midday into the current season.

“In view of securing an Elite 1 Ticket for our darling club, management has this day secure the services of Jeunie Merveil Nguegom.

“His previous stints with some Cameroonian clubs were a major booster. Nguegon shall head the technical staff assisted by Mr Tabod Tachick. All other roles remain unchanged. By this note we call on supporters to lend him our support to enable him to attain the objective,” a statement from the club chasing a first Elite One spot read.

Rangers finished the first phase of the MTN Elite 2 championship on the 8th spot, six points away from the second position which guarantees automatic promotion.

Nguegom’s stock in the industry increased last year when he guided the historic Aigle Royal of Moungo to promotion to the second tier championship for the first time in 27 years.

The trainer and Aigle management however parted company before the start of the season.

He went to coach Unisport of Bafang for a few weeks and played a part in the club’s current second place ranking.

The second round of the unforgiving Elite 2 championship starts next week.

Nguegom’s first task will be at home to bottom side, TKC in Bamenda.

The Bafut boys punished the Kalara boys 2-0 in the reversed fixture, courtesy of a brace from current Elite 2 lead scorer Kache Boris Fon.
