CRTV’s Benly Anchunda wins 2025 Digital Journalist Award

Cameroonian multimedia journalist Benly Anchunda of the state broadcaster CRTV has been named winner of the 2025 Digital Journalist Award, recognising his excellence in modern newsroom storytelling and digital reporting.

The award, presented by The Guardian Post during its 23rd Achievement Award ceremony held at Bengo Hotel in Ebolowa on Saturday, June 13, 2026, celebrates professionals and nation builders across multiple sectors of public life.

According to the jury, composed of senior media practitioners and communication experts, Anchunda was selected from a competitive field for his “incisive and unique reporting style,” as well as his strong command of digital tools in news gathering, production, and dissemination.

The 15-year veteran journalist has built a reputation across radio, television, and field reporting, working as a broadcaster, presenter, and reporter covering a wide range of beats including sports, culture, and general news. His versatility has made him one of the more recognisable multimedia figures within Cameroon’s public media landscape.

Anchunda is also widely known for his cultural feature Artist of the Week, a programme that has showcased both established and emerging talent in Cameroon’s creative industry. Over the years, he has conducted interviews with prominent artists including Petit Pays, Awilo Longomba, Daphne, Salatiel, and Yemi Alade, among others.

In sports journalism, he has covered more than 15 assignments with national teams, including the Indomitable Lions, as well as various youth and women’s sides across international competitions. His recent reporting includes coverage of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat, adding to a portfolio that spans football, basketball, volleyball, and other sporting disciplines.

Anchunda’s work has also taken him to major international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, where he has contributed to CRTV’s coverage from across multiple editions.

Beyond sports and entertainment, his reporting extends to diplomatic affairs and major national events, reflecting a broad journalistic scope that the award organisers say distinguishes him in Cameroon’s evolving media space.

The Guardian Post Achievement Awards, now in its 23rd edition, continue to spotlight excellence across journalism, public service, arts, and leadership, with this year’s ceremony once again drawing notable figures from across the country.
