The Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC) will hold official tributes in honour of its late President, Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, on Friday, 3 July 2026, at its headquarters in Nkol-Eton, Yaoundé.
The ceremony comes nearly two months after Kalkaba’s passing on 13 May 2026, bringing together members of the Olympic family, sports federations, athletes and stakeholders to celebrate the life and legacy of one of Africa’s most influential sports administrators.
According to the programme released by the CNOSC, the tribute will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the national and Olympic anthems, followed by messages from the CNOSC President and the President of the International Olympic Committee.
The day will also feature Olympic Values education sessions, demonstrations by several National Sports Federations—including badminton, baseball and softball, cricket, fencing, jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, kickboxing, roller skating and archery—as well as fitness activities, the presentation of Olympic Day certificates, a family photo and media interviews.
Born on 11 November 1950, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum dedicated decades to the advancement of sport in Cameroon, Africa and beyond. In addition to leading the CNOSC, he served as President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) and was a member of the World Athletics Council, playing a key role in the growth of athletics and the Olympic movement across the continent.
The official homage is expected to provide the Cameroonian sporting community with an opportunity to honour a leader whose influence extended far beyond the nation’s borders, leaving behind a lasting legacy in African and world sport.
