On the eve of the second outing at the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Seidou Alioum who leads Cameroon tactically in Algeria has revealed their last Group E fixture against The Menas of Niger is a final.

Yes truly, the fixture is just that. A win for either side will earn a qualification ticket for the quarter final. Cameroon come into the fixture as leaders of the group with three points to their credit, earned from the only outing against Congo last week.

To Saidou the appointment at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium is a final, one which puts pressure on skipper Dooh Alain Moukoko and his peers.

“For us this is a final. We are in a complex group. Niger has a very good team, but are ready to start this game. We are impatient about the kick-off,” Alioum revealed, before confirming his side is under pressure but one which a stimulus.

“Cameroon is a great football nation. We like pressure. We want pressure. The players are ready. I am very happy that my players are motivated. We shall give everything to win against Niger.”

Niger who failed to shot on target in the entire 90 minutes against Congo in their opener will have Cameroon’s wing wizard and scorer against Congo Jerome Ngom Mbeleki to contain with.

The Menas look to end a run of six games without scoring and also prevent Cameroon from reaching a third quarter-final in five appearances. If Niger pulls the upset it will mean only the second group stage exit for Cameroon since Rigobert Song’s team of 2018 achieved the unwanted feat in Morocco.

Cameroon currently lead the group with three points from one game and need at least a draw to reach the quarter-final in consecutive editions of the tournament.

The 8:00PM kick off fixture at the Miloud Hadefi stadium in Oran, Algeria will determine which of the nations progress to the last eight from the tricky group from which Congo were eliminated last week. They could only get a point from two games in which they even failed to score.
