The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has invited retired Cameroonian midfielder Stephane Mbia Etoundi for the Group stage draw of this season’s competition scheduled this Friday in Monaco.
The former Sevilla holding midfielder who won two Europa League titles with the Andalusian club has been honored for the occasion.
Mbia, 36, who retired from the beautiful game last year after stints in France, England, Spain, Turkey and China has been a regular in public events organized by CAF in the past 12 months.
He will be the only African among multiple global stars that have been assembled in Monaco in the past five days for the ceremony.
The UEFA secondary competition will be without its holders and Mbia’s former club as they are rather competing in the Champions League.
The presence of the two towering midfielder will bring fun memories of Sevilla unprecedented history in the competition.
The draw comes up at 1PMCameroon time.
