- Panthere have won one of their opening three games of the MTN Elite Two championship this season
- The club had its fans when they edged Leopard Sportif by 1-0 in match day two of the championship
The Transitional Technical Committee of the Cameroon professional football League (CTFP) have announced its decision to deny fans access to the match day four MTN Elite Two championship game pitting Panthere of Nde against Dragon of Yaounde scheduled for this Wednesday.
According to a release issued on Monday, November 6, Faustin Blaise Mbida, the Secretary General of the body announced to stakeholders that only direct actors will be allowed to attend the game.
“The Secretary General of the Transitional Technical Committee of professional football (CTFP) wishes to inform concerned parties that the MTN Elite Two championship the match day four game pitting Panthere of Nde against Dragon of Yaounde will be played on Wednesday, November 8, at the Bangante Municipal stadium, without supporters,” a portion of the release read.
Though CTFP failed to provide justifications for the move, it is believed that a standoff between Municipal authorities and the Cameroon football federation (FECAFOOT) hasn’t helped otherwise, thus explaining the need for only state security officers during the game.
The announcement means Panthere will not enjoy the luxury of having home fans as it was in their 1-0 win against Leopard Sportif on match day two of the championship.
kick442.com understands there’s a grumbling faction of Panthere diehards who don’t sympathize with the present team imposed by FECAFOOT and so could interrupt matches at some point in time, this explaining the move from CTFP.
Panthere and the rest of the MTN Elite Two clubs will be in action this Wednesday across the territory for match day four matches of the championship TKC and Djiko FC lead Pool A and B respectively.
