Dragon FC Yaoundé winger Vivien Frederic Koloto has secured a move to the Kondengui maximum prison in Yaoundé while waiting for details of his prison sentence for assaulting a police officer last week at Lycee Leclerc.
The 28-year-old hit the headlines for the wrong reasons last week after footage of him assaulting the public security personnel spread on social like fire in a desert.
Koloto, who skippered relegated Dragon of Yaoundé is said to have walked into the campus of the famous secondary school to see his student girlfriend while end of course examinations were happening.
The police officer whose name we opt to retain asked the player to leave but he resisted and it resulted in a fight during which he assaulted the security personnel in the presence of tenths of students.
Police bosses were briefed on the incident, and they decided to detain the player.
Koloto has been behind bars at the Central Police in Yaoundé since Wednesday. He has been sent to a greater correctional facility while waiting for trials in the days ahead.
This is what Article 156 of the Cameroon penal code says about Violence against civil servants
“(1) Any person who commits violence or assault against a civil servant shall be punished by imprisonment of one (01) month to three (03) years and a fine of five thousand (5,000) to one hundred thousand (100,000) francs.
(2) The penalty shall be imprisonment for a term of five (05) to ten (10) years and a fine of twenty thousand (20,000) to five hundred thousand (500,000) francs, if the violence or assault is premeditated or if it results, even unintentionally, in injuries as provided for in Articles 277 and 280 of this Code.
We understand it’s ot the first time Koloto is involved in violence. Two years ago, he stopped a local football game at a neighborhood in Yaounde after entering the field to punch the match officials.
The former APEJES of Mfou forward, who scored for Dragon Yaoundé against YOSA in a 2-3 defeat less than six weeks ago could face up to five years in Prison for this act.
