CAF unveils CHAN 2022 match ball

The Confederation of African Football, CAF and technical partner Umbro have unveiled the official match ball of TotalEnergies African Nations Championship Algeria 2022 kick-off on Friday night, 13 January 2023.

The official match ball, named “Marhaba”, which means ‘Welcome’, will be used during the opening act of the competition between hosts Algeria and Libya at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.

Host Algeria will kick start the 2023 African Nations Championship in the opening game with a clash in Group A when the host neighbours Libya at the newly-built Baraki Stadium in Algiers on 13 January 2023 at 20h00 local time (19h00 GMT).

The newly built iconic Nelson Mandela Stadium in the capital of Algiers will the two North Africans in the opener. And for the first time in history, eighteen countries will be competing.

Morocco’s Atlas Lions won the sixth edition at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on 7 February 2021.

As a result, Morocco became the first team to win two consecutive titles in the competition history designed exclusively for home-based footballers.

See the eighteen teams in their respective groups.
Group A (Baraki Stadium): Algeria, Libya, Mozambique, Ethiopia
Group B (Stade du 19 Mai 1956, Annaba): DR Congo, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal
Group C (Chahid Hamlaoui Stadium, Constantine): Morocco, Sudan, Madagascar, Ghana
Group D (Olympic Stadium, Oran): Mali, Angola, Mauritania

Group E (Olympic Stadium, Oran): Cameroon, Congo, Niger
