The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned the President of the Cameroonian Football Association (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, with a six-month ban from attending matches of Cameroon’s representative teams for breaches of articles 13 (Offensive behaviour and violations of the principles of fair play) and 14 (Misconduct of players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

The sanction was imposed in connection with the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup™ round-of-16 match between Brazil and Cameroon played in Bogotá, Colombia, on 11 September 2024.

The ban imposed on Mr Eto’o prevents him from attending mens’ and women’s matches involving FECAFOOT teams of all categories and age groups.

Mr Eto’o has been notified today, the date on which the sanction comes into force. He reserves the right to appeal the sanction.

Details gathered by kick442.com about the ban:

According to our findings in the past hour, Samuel Eto’o had a violent altercation with the match officials after the game, calling them names while cursing their performance.

On that day, the match officials had a below par performance and Eto’o took exception to it and in his reactions even mentioned the Italian officials were biased against Cameroon as it was a team of blacks.

The incident was mentioned in the officials report which prompted FIFA to investigate and sanction the Cameroon FA boss.

It’s important to note it’s not the first time Eto’o is being sanctioned in the past three months as in July CAF disciplinary committee fined him $200k for breach of ethics.

He previously drew attention for his behavior towards players and national team coach Marc Brys, whom he allegedly threatened in front of cameras if his directives were not followed before later apologizing.

During the Qatar World Cup, the former Real Madrid, Mallorca, and Barcelona player made headlines after assaulting a YouTuber who provoked him outside a stadium after a match.
