All MTN Elite One championship matches scheduled this Wednesday , 23 April will go on as planned, this after a number of top-flight championship Referees were assigned to officiate part of match day 21 matches scheduled in Douala and in Melong.

The decision, announced by ACAF’s National President, was to impact referees and assistant referees involved in the Professional Elite One and Elite Two Championships, the Women’s First Division Championship, regional and departmental leagues, as well as futsal and beach soccer tournaments is now in jeopardy.

The move prompted by unresolved financial disputes, primarily centered on unpaid allowances totaling approximately 300 million CFA francs (roughly $500,000) accumulated over four seasons, including the ongoing 2024–2025 campaign has been punctured by the regular ‘divide and rule’ tendencies of this era.

According to information reaching our editorial crew, the Referees appointment commission led by president Foko Kamga has appointed and reached out to concerned officials expected to be in charge of matches today.

The move to assign the officials at the time the president of the national Referees Association Alioum Sidi has recommended a boycott due to non payment of indemnities puts the officials in a tight corner.

From our findings most of those assigned for matches are already in the towns of matches and have elected to officiate matches as scheduled.

Therefore the indefinite strike action announced by the Cameroon Association of Football Referees (ACAF) for officiating activities across domestic competitions organized by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), effective Monday, April 21, 2025 will not be respected.

The participation of the officials in national championship matches doesn’t indicate there are no problems, it simply highlights the state of Cameroon football today as the tendency of suffering and smiling gains ground.
