Preparations for the seventh edition of the Bamenda I Peace and Unity Tournament reached a significant milestone following the successful conclusion of the final planning meeting and draws for the competition.
More than a sporting event, the tournament continues to serve as a symbol of peace, coexistence and community solidarity, using football as a platform to promote harmony and encourage a future free from violence.
During the meeting, organizers officially presented the tournament’s rulebook to representatives of the participating clubs. The rules and regulations were read and explained in detail to ensure transparency, fairness and a common understanding among all teams ahead of the competition.
A total of 12 teams have registered for the men’s tournament and have been divided into three zones to encourage grassroots participation and strengthen community engagement through healthy competition.
Organizers also announced that meetings concerning the Under-17 category and other sporting disciplines will be held next weekend, highlighting the commitment to involving young people and nurturing future talents.

Attention now turns to the official launch ceremony, scheduled for July 5, 2026, at the Bamenda Proximity Stadium. The initiative is spearheaded by Mayor Mbigha Felix, whose vision for the tournament continues to emphasize the role of sport in fostering peace and unity within the municipality.
As anticipation builds ahead of kickoff, residents of Bamenda I are preparing for another edition of a competition that has grown beyond football to become a celebration of togetherness, friendship and hope.
