Former Ghana international Awudu Issaka has stated skillful young forward Felix Ohene Afena Gyan has enough to earn him a place in the Black Stars at the expense of other attackers.

The Cremonese youngster broke into the senior national team when former coach Otto Addo invited him for Ghana’s two-legged clash with Nigeria in the World Cup playoffs last year as well as subsequent competitive fixtures in the 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations Qualifiers.

However, the 20 year old could not make the cut for the team’s final 26 man squad for the 2022 World Cup Tournament in Qatar following his move to the struggling Seria A side Cremonese from AS Roma. Gyan has again left out of new head coach Chris Hughton’s squad for the teams third and fourth 2023 AFCON qualifying matches against Angola.

Awudu Issaka however thinks the former AS Roma player has a comparative advantage over his competitors in the Black Stars.

“Afena Gyan should be recalled to the Black Stars because he possesses some qualities that many of the current strikers called to the Black Stars lack,” he told Angel TV an Accra based television Station.

Gyan after missing out on the Black Stars squad turned down a late call up to join Ghana U23 side Black Meteors in their quest the U23 AFCON Qualification.
