Cameroon international Arnold Maël Kamdem has secured a new challenge away from Brazil, signing a one-season deal with Libyan top-flight club Al Sadaqa after his spell in the South American country’s fifth division.
The 25-year-old midfielder’s move represents an important step in his career, offering him the opportunity to compete at a higher level and maintain his ambitions with the Indomitable Lions.
Kamdem attracted attention in Cameroon after earning a surprise call-up to the national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. His selection placed him among the players trusted to represent the country at the continental tournament, despite competing outside the more prominent football leagues.
Nicknamed one of coach David Pagou’s favourites, Kamdem’s rise to international football has been an unusual journey. His experience with the Indomitable Lions at AFCON raised his profile, and the move to Libya now gives him an opportunity to build on that exposure in a more competitive environment.
At Al Sadaqa, the Cameroonian will be looking to settle quickly, secure regular playing time and demonstrate that his international experience can translate into consistent performances at club level.
For Kamdem, the move is more than a change of club. It is an opportunity to move beyond Brazil’s lower divisions and prove himself in a new football environment as he seeks to keep his name in contention for future Cameroon national team selections.
