ANAFOOT announce third edition of ‘Talent Tournament’

The National Football Academy (ANAFOOT) will be organizing from August 16 to 19, 2023 at Mbankomo, Centre region, the third edition of the “Talent Tournament of Regional Poles”.

This competition, which is intended to be annual, will bring together 150 of the best young male players, of the Academy from the U16 to U18 categories.

Coming from the ten regional poles, these players were selected, after evaluations in each of their respective zones.

The opening match is scheduled for August 16, 2023 at the African Confederation Football Excellence Center at 10 a.m.

While at Mbankomo, they will play in ten teams of 15 players each. The competition is planned, in two pools, under the championship formula.

These teams, according to their ranking at the end of the championship matches, will play classification matches, in order to determine the winner.

The ANAFOOT Regional Poles Tournament, plans to bring together young girls and boys, in training within the ten regional poles of the Academy, in the U13, U15, U17 and U18 categories.

Also, it offers the possibility to the young residents of ANAFOOT, to be more competitive, permits the supervisors to evaluate their level and to expose their talents to the practice of a high level football.

This Tournament will also make it possible to optimize the learning process of ANAFOOT players, evaluate the receptivity of the training programs implemented for their visibility.

The Tournament will also engage each of the residents, towards a rational design and organization integrity based on the criteria of performance, civic-mindedness, citizenship and ethics in particular.

Elite clubs and other teams involved in local championships will have the possibility,of securing the services of ANAFOOT players, since a committee of experts is responsible for following each of the meetings in order to bring out the list of the best players.

These best players will be presented and drafted for the first time in Cameroon, during a ceremony scheduled for August 26, 2023 and organized by the mobile phone company, Orange Cameroon.

The 150 young people present at this competition will benefit from the support, of the Cameroonian Organization for the Fight against Doping in Sport, responsible for raising their awareness of the harmful effects of drug consumption.

Created in 2014 by decree of the Head of State, one of ANAFOOT’s missions, is to train young people in the practice of high-level football.

Since March 2018, it has continued to train over two thousand and forty-nine young girls and boys in boarders. That is two hundred and thirty-eight girls (238) and one thousand,eight hundred and eleven (1811) boys in the regional centres.

The female workforce has increased from two hundred and twenty-seven (227) players in 2019 to two hundred and thirty-eight (238) today.
