Stephane Ndzana Ngono, the head coach of Cameroon women’s top-flight championship aspiring champions Lekie Filles, says it is a pleasure to be named best coach of the first round of the 2022/23 Guinness Super League championship and a marvelous job done by the organizers to constitute and publish the best XI.
Nzdana who inspired Lekie to a run of ten wins and a draw in eleven first round matches says what has been done by the league management body so far is commendable. However, he recommends they maintain or better their work rate.
“It gives a feel of satisfaction to be named the best coach of the first segment of the season. I appreciate those who showed their confidence in me. Yes, I have been picked, but if it wasn’t me, it wouldn’t be a problem because I am into this as a passion first. I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the organizers for coming up with this and putting me on the list of the best. We hope this pace is maintained or improved,” Ndzana said in an exclusive conversation kick442.com.
Guinness, the bank roller of the championship and the Cameroon Women’s professional football league (LFFC) announced the best XI players for the first round on Thursday, including six players of Ndzana’s Lekie Filles.
Attacking duo; Tabe Brenda and Raissa Nnanga, plus midfielders Ngah Manga and Njock joined defenders Moumazim Genevieve and Adjidja as the Lekie legion in the XI completed by Nguiadem Annecy of FC Ebolowa, Simmi and Tim Shalom of Authentic Ladies plus Priso Ndong of Louves Minprof and Awa’s sensational young keeper, Ngole Chelsea.
To Ndzana this XI is quite interesting, though he feels bad that the line up can’t take more than XI players or incorporate more players who have been performing this season.
“I believe other girls also deserved some of the spots in the XI. I am not contesting those who have been picked. Unfortunately there were only XI spots. There are so many good players in the Guinness Super League. We have to keep encouraging them in this way.”
The likes of Bongben Confidence of Amazon FAP, Lekie’s Mogai Mogai, Authentic Ladies’ exciting Right-back Fukuin Chahkes among others have not been considered despite their brilliant performances this season, certainly because of the quality all over as Ndzana mentioned.
They onus are on these girls to push further to win their spots in the XI when the team of the season is announced in the end.
In the past six months, Lekie have built a formidable team under Nzdana. They are the team to beat in the championship this season.
The club in it’s second season in the Guinness Super League only dropped points against FC Ebolowa this season, obtaining 31 points from a possible 33.
The presence of six of their players is clearly a reflection of the results obtained so far.
Lekie is five points atop Eclair in second spot ahead of the start of the second segment of the season this weekend.
Ndzana’s Lekie, FAP, Louves and Louves Minprof will not play this weekend due to the presence of many of their players in the Cameroon U-23 team out in Morocco to play two friendly matches.
The rest of the matches will go as planned and represent an opportunity for all to fight for a spot in the final XI.
