Mactar Ndiaye scored late goal to earn a 1-0 win for Senegal’s U17 against Cameroon in a friendly game at home on Saturday.

Hosts didn’t have it all easy against the current African champions, but they finally found them out late into events at the Toubab Dialaw stadium to earn confidence inspiring win.

Senegal had been in camp during the past month but their first real test against the current UNIFFAC champions proved to be truly challenging and justifying Cameroon’s quality after three weeks in camp.

Both sides failed to explore goal scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes due to a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping.

Mactar finally made the difference 12 minutes to the end of regulation time after he pounced on a through ball to beat Lopez Abdou Jnr.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of Senegal till the end of the game.

Both sides meet again for another friendly on Tuesday.

Cameroon are the defending champions of the competition.
They won the competition in Tanzania back in 2019.

The TotalEnergies U17 AFCON 2023 will run from the 29th of April to 19th of May 2023, in Algeria and Cameroon is in Pool C.

Cameroon, who also won the title in 2003 share the group with fellow double-champions in Mali.

2011 champions Burkina Faso and debutants South Sudan complete a tricky Group C.

Senegal are in group A alongside hosts Algeria, Congo and Somalia.
