Cameroonian defender wins second major continental honour with the Algerian outfit, while compatriots Elvis Noupoue and Carine Atezambong also officiate in the 3-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Cameroonian international Che Malone Fondoh has added another prestigious continental title to his growing collection after USM Alger defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 to win the 2026 CAF Super Cup at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, this Sunday, November 8.

Although he did not feature on the pitch, with the former Coton Sport defender remaining an unused substitute, Malone shares in another major achievement for the Algerian outfit, who secured their second CAF Super Cup title.

The triumph adds to Malone’s growing collection of honours since joining USM Alger, following the club’s 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup success against Egyptian giants Zamalek. USM Alger had defeated Zamalek on penalties after the two-legged final ended 1-1 on aggregate.

The 3-1 victory over Sundowns was built on an impressive attacking display. Zakaria Draoui opened the scoring after just four minutes before Iqraam Rayners restored parity for the South African hosts from the penalty spot in the 25th minute.

Saadi Radouani restored USM Alger’s advantage in the 37th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound after an initial effort struck the crossbar. Ahmed Khaldi then delivered the decisive blow in the 55th minute with an excellent curling finish that left goalkeeper Ronwen Williams with little chance.

USM Alger maintained their advantage for the remainder of the encounter to overcome the reigning African champions and secure another memorable continental trophy.

For Malone, the latest success represents another important chapter in a career that has taken him from Cameroonian domestic football to some of Africa’s biggest club competitions. Before joining USM Alger, he featured for Simba SC in Tanzania after establishing himself at Coton Sport, where he won back-to-back Elite One championships in 2022 and 2023, alongside the Cameroon Cup.

The defender also captained Coton Sport for two seasons and has represented Cameroon at senior international level, including at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Beyond Malone’s achievement, Cameroon also had representation among the match officials. Elvis Guy Noupue Nguegoue served as the second assistant referee, supporting Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida, while Carine Atezambong Fomo was appointed as the first assistant VAR official, working alongside VAR referee Babacar Sarr.

Their appointments added another Cameroonian dimension to the continental showpiece, with the country represented both in USM Alger’s victorious squad and within the officiating team.

USM Alger’s latest triumph makes them two-time CAF Super Cup winners, following their maiden success against Al Ahly in 2023. For Malone, it is another continental medal, even without stepping onto the pitch in Pretoria, as the Cameroonian continues to enjoy success with one of Algeria’s leading clubs.
