Cameroon representatives Lékié Football Filles began their 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Morocco’s FUS Rabat on Sunday, November 1, in their opening Group A fixture in Egypt.
The Cameroonian champions secured a valuable point in their first outing at the continental competition, holding their Moroccan opponents to a goalless draw in a tightly contested encounter. Although neither side managed to find the breakthrough, Lékié avoided defeat and made a positive start to their quest for a place in the knockout stages.
The result was particularly significant for the Cameroonian side, who are carrying the country’s hopes in the eighth edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League. After earning their place in the tournament, Lékié will be looking to translate their domestic success into a strong performance against some of Africa’s leading women’s clubs.
Sunday’s other Group A encounter also ended without a goal, with Egyptian representatives FC Masar and South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns playing out another 0-0 draw. Consequently, all four teams finished the opening matchday with one point apiece, leaving the group finely balanced.
Lékié Football Filles will now turn their attention to their next assignment against Mamelodi Sundowns on November 4 before concluding their group-stage campaign against FC Masar on November 7. Both encounters will be crucial as the Cameroonian outfit seeks to secure qualification for the semi-finals and keep alive its ambition of bringing continental silverware to Cameroon.
For Cameroon, Lékié’s opening-day result provides encouragement, but the real test awaits against two established forces in African women’s club football.
