Cameroon’s U15 Indomitable Lions have left the country for Baku, Azerbaijan, where they will take part in the inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival. The young Lions departed Cameroon as they begin their journey to a tournament scheduled for October 22-31, 2026, offering the country’s next generation of footballers a rare opportunity to test themselves on an international stage.
Cameroon have been drawn alongside Senegal, Bahrain, Grenada, India and Laos, with their opening match against Senegal on October 24. The meeting with their fellow Africans will provide an early test for the young Lions, who will be looking to make a positive start before facing their other group opponents.
The tournament will be played under an unusual 8-a-side format, with matches consisting of two 20-minute halves. The shorter games are expected to demand quick decision-making, high intensity and strong concentration, with little time for teams to recover from mistakes. Cameroon will need to adapt quickly to the format as they look to make their mark in Baku.
For the young Indomitable Lions, the trip is about more than results. It is a chance to represent Cameroon, experience international competition and take another important step in their development. Their first challenge awaits on October 24 against Senegal, when Cameroon begin their historic FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival campaign.
