Cameroon youngster David Mimbang made his professional debut on Saturday night as San Diego FC suffered a 4-1 defeat to New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer.
Mimbang was introduced in the 62nd minute, giving the young Cameroonian his first taste of professional football after coming through the ranks with San Diego FC.
By the time he entered the game, San Diego were already facing an uphill battle, trailing 3-1. The visitors had managed to pull one goal back, but the Red Bulls remained firmly in control of the contest.
The night also had a strong Cameroonian connection, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting featuring for New York Red Bulls. The experienced forward came off the bench and made his mark late in the game.
Choupo-Moting put the finishing touch on the victory in stoppage time, scoring the fourth goal for the Red Bulls and completing a memorable night for the Cameroonian duo — one beginning his professional journey and the other continuing to make his presence felt at the highest level.
