The race for the 2025/26 MTN Elite One title took another dramatic twist on Matchday 24 as Unisport of Bafang relinquished first place for the first time since February 25 following a damaging 2-0 defeat to Gazelle FA in Garoua.

Playing at the Roumdé Adjia Annex Stadium, Unisport were undone by second-half goals from Serge Daura, who converted from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute, and Souley Saïd Aboubakar in the 74th minute.

The defeat leaves the “Flambeau de l’Ouest” with 49 points and significantly complicates their hopes of winning a first league title since 1996.

Unisport’s slip-up handed the initiative back to defending champions Colombe du Dja et Lobo, who extended their remarkable winning streak to ten consecutive matches with a hard-fought 2-1 victory in Bamenda. The result lifts the reigning champions back to the top of the standings on 49 points.

Dynamo de Douala also remain firmly in contention after edging Panthère Sportive du Ndé 1-0 to move level on points with both Colombe and Unisport, setting up a thrilling three-way battle for the championship with just a few rounds remaining.

At the other end of the table, AS Fortuna climbed out of the automatic relegation places after reaching 18 points. The Yaoundé club currently occupy the relegation playoff spot in 13th position, while Fauve Azur dropped into the second and final direct relegation place with 17 points.
