The Elite Two promotion playoffs kicked off in Yaoundé this Tuesday, June 9, with three fixtures, producing one win and two early-scoring draws as teams began their push for a spot in Elite One.
Atlantic SA and Kumba city shared spoils. The former took the lead after just 60 seconds through Aloys Meyomesse. The response was swift as captain Cyril Obase leveled for Kumba City in the 10th minute.
Both sides pressed for a winner but had to settle for a point .
Apejes Mfou made the strongest statement of the day with a 2-0 away win over Astres Douala. Michel Mba broke the deadlock in the 35th minute and Bertrand Ntemb sealed it in the 86th.
The final game also ended level, with penalties deciding the scoring. Bondoma Beaudelaire put US Abong Mbang ahead in the 56th minute from the spot, before Noe Timba Tombe equalized for Avion Academy with an 81st-minute penalty.
With one match day down, Apejes Mfou sits top after their 2-0 win, while Atlantic SA, Kumba City, Avion Academy and US Abong Mbang all open with a point. The playoffs continue with teams chasing the limited promotion slots to Cameroon’s top flight.
