The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially extended the registration deadline for clubs participating in its interclub competitions for the 2026/27 season.
Initially set for June 30, the new deadline has been pushed back to July 31, 2026, giving member associations an additional month to confirm their representatives for both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
According to CAF, the decision was taken in light of the ongoing impact of the FIFA World Cup 2026 calendar, which could delay the completion of domestic competitions and the confirmation of qualified clubs in several countries.
The extension is expected to provide national federations with greater flexibility in finalizing their league standings, cup competitions, and club licensing procedures before submitting their representatives to the continental governing body.
CAF also confirmed that the existing allocation system remains unchanged. The 12 highest-ranked member associations in the CAF five-year ranking will continue to be entitled to two representatives each in both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
The announcement offers a significant administrative boost for clubs and federations across the continent as preparations begin for another season of African club football, with many domestic championships still navigating scheduling adjustments linked to the global football calendar.
