Gazelle FA of Garoua dealt another major blow to Stade Renard’s fight for survival after recording a convincing 3-1 victory on Match Day 21 of the Cameroon Elite One championship at the Roumde Adjia Annex Stadium.

With the season entering its decisive stretch, the defeat leaves Stade Renard under increasing pressure in the relegation battle, while Gazelle continue to strengthen their own ambitions with another important home victory.

The hosts took control of the encounter in the first half and opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Mael Fernandez, whose goal rewarded Gazelle’s early dominance.

Stade Renard’s problems worsened just before halftime when Gazelle were awarded a penalty, calmly converted by Serge Daura in the 43rd minute to hand the Garoua club a comfortable 2-0 advantage heading into the break.

The visitors attempted to respond after halftime and briefly revived hopes of a comeback when Thorgan Essiane pulled one back in the 53rd minute.

However, any momentum Stade Renard hoped to build was disrupted as Gazelle continued to press forward and eventually restored their two-goal lead in the 74th minute. Souley Said Aboubakar converted from the penalty spot to effectively seal the victory for the home side.

Stade Renard’s frustrations were further compounded when substitute Dikombwe received a red card, leaving the struggling side to finish the match under even more pressure.

The latest defeat complicates Stade Renard’s battle to remain in the Elite One championship as the club risks falling deeper into danger with only a few matches left before the end of the season.

For Gazelle FA, the result represents another strong statement at home as they continue to build momentum during the closing stages of the campaign.

While Gazelle celebrate another important three points in Garoua, Stade Renard now face an increasingly urgent task to revive their survival hopes before it is too late.
