Title holders Colombe Sportive of the Dja and Lobo secured a convincing 4-1 win over 10-men Victoria United FC of Limbe, this Sunday March 22, in their MtN elite one Matchday 11 encounter at the military stadium in Yaoundé.
The boys of Richard Towa put up a dominant display to crush the visitors, with Eyango Priso and Brice Sindjo taking turns in scoring all four goals, putting an end to “OPOPO’s” six match unbeaten run.
Eyango Priso opened the scoring for Colombe 15 minutes into the game thanks to an assist from former ISOHSA of Limbe forward Ikose Njuma Conrad.
Still reeling from the early opening goal and failing to level scores before the break, Victoria United found themselves 2-0 down at the 58th minute when another Njuma Conrad assist paved way for Brice Sindjo to widen the lead.
Priso made it 3-0 eighteen minutes to the end of regular time before Bruce Sindjo completed his brace just five minutes later.
It was from a Bill Alex Diboto foul that Sindjo got his second of the game from the spot and the former was sent off, leaving Victoria United handicapped and 4-0 down few minute to the end of the game.
After much efforts to reduce the scoreline, Perl Sterly(the lone player from the club who was part of David Pagou’s list of 30 local players summoned to prepare for the Indomitable Lions international friendly matches this month) slotted in a stoppage time consolatory goal for the Limbe based club.
With this result, Colombe records their third win of the season and sits 7th with 14pts, just behind “OPOPO” but three points behind them.
While the defending champions who have not had a convincing season before now will look to continue on good footing when then face Aigle Royal of the Menoua away from home on March 29. While Victoria United will be looking to bounce back when they host Stade Renard of Melong in Limbe same day.
