Cameroon’s Under-17 side have qualified for the next Africa U17 Cup of Nations following results at the UNIFFAC U-17 Tournament.
The confirmation came after DR Congo secured a 2-1 victory over Central African Republic on Tuesday, a result that guarantees the Young Indomitable Lions one of the qualifying places from the Central African zone.
Cameroon’s youngsters – widely known as the U17 Indomitable Lions – had already put themselves in a strong position with earlier results in the regional qualifying tournament. DR Congo’s win ensured that the standings can no longer deny Cameroon a ticket to the continental finals.
Despite qualification now secured, there is still silverware at stake. Cameroon will face DR Congo in their third and final group match on 27 February 2026, with the winner set to be crowned champions of the 2026 UNIFFAC U17 Tournament.
The clash promises to be decisive, with both sides unbeaten and carrying momentum into what effectively becomes a title decider.
Qualification represents another positive step for Cameroon’s youth football structure, as the country continues its tradition of strong performances at junior level. The U17 AFCON provides a crucial platform for emerging talents to gain continental exposure and compete against Africa’s best prospects.
For now, Cameroon can celebrate a job well done — but attention quickly turns to Thursday’s showdown, where regional bragging rights and the UNIFFAC crown will be on the line.
