Cameroonian forward Jean Florent Batoum has completed a move to Poland, joining top-flight side KS Cracovia on a two-and-a-half-year contract, with an option for a further season.

The 23-year-old striker makes the switch from Israeli outfit FC Ashdod after the two clubs reached an agreement. His departure comes as a surprise, having only joined Ashdod five months ago and with a deal that was initially set to run until 30 June 2027, including the option of an additional year.

Batoum, a former Colombe Sportive of the Dja and Lobo and Dynamo of Douala striker, scored five goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances during his short spell in Israel. His performances attracted interest abroad, paving the way for a new chapter in the Polish Ekstraklasa.

He now links up with one of Poland’s most historic clubs. Cracovia, founded in 1906, are the country’s oldest football club and were inaugural Polish champions. The Kraków-based side have won the league title five times and lifted both the Polish Cup and Polish Super Cup in 2020.

Cracovia currently sit fifth in the league standings with 31 points from 20 matches this season, as they push for European qualification.

Batoum will hope his move to Poland provides greater stability and an opportunity to continue his development in one of Europe’s competitive domestic leagues.
