Senegalese coach Lamine Mamadou Ndiaye has officially ended his tenure as head coach of TP Mazembe, the club confirmed on Thursday. His departure comes after a 2–1 league victory over Sanga Balende, which proved to be his final match in charge of the Congolese giants.

Mazembe announced that Ndiaye informed his players of the decision shortly after the match, bringing to an end his second spell at the club. The five-time African champions thanked the veteran coach and his technical staff for their service and wished them well in their future careers. Assistant coach Alexandre Laurent Lucien Jurain is also leaving the club.

Ndiaye returned to Lubumbashi in April 2023, tasked with rebuilding the team and restoring its dominance both domestically and on the continental stage. His comeback was seen as a move rooted in nostalgia and trust, given his deep history with the club.

The Franco-Senegalese coach remains one of the most successful figures in Mazembe’s history. During his first stint, he led the club to the CAF Champions League title in 2010 and guided them to a historic appearance in the FIFA Club World Cup final later that year, achievements that cemented his legacy in African football.

However, his most recent tenure produced mixed results. While Mazembe remained competitive, performances often fell short of the club’s lofty standards, leading to growing frustration among supporters. In November 2025, the club’s management publicly reaffirmed its confidence in Ndiaye amid mounting criticism, insisting his resignation was not under consideration at the time.

Despite that backing, uncertainty over his future persisted, and Thursday’s announcement brings clarity to a situation that had dominated discussion around the club in recent weeks. Mazembe are now expected to begin the search for a new head coach as they continue their Linafoot campaign and prepare for future continental challenges.

For Ndiaye, the departure closes another significant chapter in a long and decorated coaching career, leaving open questions about his next move in African football.
