Trabzonspor, with Cameroon’s André Onana once again commanding from the back, picked up another vital Süper Lig victory on the road as they edged Göztepe 2-1 in a tense contest on Sunday.
Albanian midfielder Ernest Muçi proved decisive, scoring in the 46th and 76th minutes to put the Black Sea Storm firmly in control. His first came seconds after the restart, a cool finish that stunned the home crowd, before he doubled the lead with a clinical effort as Göztepe pushed forward.
The match turned fiery when Wilker Pina was shown a straight red card in the 78th minute, leaving Göztepe with 10 men. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the hosts kept fighting and eventually pulled one back through A. Dennis in the 85th minute.
Eight minutes into added time, Brazilian midfielder Rhaldney thought he had snatched a dramatic equaliser, but Trabzonspor held their shape and saw out the final moments with maturity — a sequence in which Onana’s composure and game-management were key.
This latest victory adds to Trabzonspor’s growing momentum as they continue to climb the table, while Onana’s steady performances between the posts remain a reassuring presence for the Turkish giants.
