Legendary African football commentator Frank Simon has helped ignite excitement in Benin as the highly anticipated “Destination Morocco 2025 – Land of Football” road trip kicked off in Cotonou. The continental caravan, driven by sports promoter Prince Zelkifli Rahman Ngoufonja (Zul), is embarking on a symbolic journey across eight countries to rally support for what Morocco hopes will be the most spectacular AFCON in history.
Over three days, Cotonou came alive with football activations, cultural showcases and media interactions as more than fifty journalists, influencers and creators gathered for the launch. Frank Simon, revered across the continent for his deep knowledge of African football and his charismatic broadcasting style, was among the standout personalities wooing fans, engaging communities and amplifying the spirit of the campaign.
For years, Simon has been one of the most authoritative voices chronicling African football stories for global audiences. His presence in Benin added prestige to the initiative, with fans turning up in numbers to meet the commentator synonymous with major African football moments. His participation signals how seriously Morocco and its partners are taking the mission of uniting the continent ahead of AFCON 2025.

Upcoming Journalist cant hide their excitement after meeting Frank Simon
Project promoter Zul underlined that the caravan embodies Morocco’s continental vision: a football tournament that goes beyond sport to celebrate African unity. He said the initiative mirrors Morocco’s ambition to host an AFCON defined by innovation, hospitality and cultural richness. Backed heavily by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Visit Morocco and Royal Air Maroc, the North African nation wants this edition to set new standards—modern infrastructure, seamless organisation and a fan experience designed to be unforgettable.
World grappling champion Djihene Abdellilah described the social power behind the project, stressing how sport continues to shape and inspire young Africans. Her message resonated strongly with local communities along the road trip’s first stops.
From Benin to Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania and finally Morocco, the travelling delegation will produce daily multimedia content, meet grassroots groups, and create a shared narrative that blends football passion with cultural identity.
As the journey heads north, the voices of Frank Simon, Zul and their team are expected to keep growing louder—carrying a message of continental pride and building momentum toward a tournament Morocco hopes will be remembered as Africa’s best-ever AFCON.
