The Grand Stade de Marrakech is gearing up for an unforgettable 2025 TotalEnergies AFCON experience as it welcomes the rest of Africa to Morocco. The Regional Director of the National Company for the Realization and Management of Sports Equipment, Mr. Morad Karaoui, on Tuesday – showcased the venue’s new architecture to media professionals, highlighting its exceptional blend of comfort and modernity.
A World-Class Venue
With 15 VVIP and VIP lounges, the stadium guarantees high-quality reception for officials. Its catering facilities include two large refreshment stands, providing a variety of choices and efficient service. The venue also features a 4000 capacity parking lot of vehicles and dedicated commercial spaces, making it an ideal location for large-scale sports and cultural events.
Inspired by Moroccan Heritage
The stadium’s design is a testament to Moroccan heritage, embodying the spirit of the Medina, an ancient imperial city of western Morocco. According to SONARGES director, Mr. Karaoui, the stadium’s rectangular shape and four training stadiums makes it a unique venue. “Everything has been completely refurbished,” he added, highlighting the upgrades to the dressing rooms, media space, medical center, and more.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The Grand Stade de Marrakech boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including two giant screens, bigger and more comfortable chairs, and advanced surveillance videos with eight high definition cameras. “We put in a lot of technical aspects,” Mr. Karaoui said, emphasizing the stadium’s readiness for top-tier events.
Future Developments
After the African Cup of Nations, the stadium will undergo a second phase of renovations to bring it up to FIFA standards ahead of the 2030 World Cup. This will involve installing a complete roof, modernizing the stands, and further increasing the seating capacity to 46,000.

The tournament at the Grand Stade de Marrakech will kick off with South Africa facing Angola on December 22. Other matches including the highly anticipated clash between Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon on December 28, 2025 will follow.
