Cameroon international Martin Ndzie Atemengue has completed a €2.5 Millions switch to Austrian Bundesliga side Rapid Wien for the next four years.

Per club sources, both partues had been in communication for weeks but finally reached a conscientious this week to effect the transfer, giving Ndzie a new platform for him to continue his development.

Having signed on Thursday upon completion of all formalities needed in a transfer, the Cameroon international was presented before the media and fans on Friday.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a brilliant campaign last year at Ashdod, made 30 appearances in all competitions to take his tally in the Isreali club’s colors to 50 in three seasons.

Ndzie only had optimistic comments as he stepped into the new challenge in an enviroment he knows he few faces.

“I am looking forward to the new challenge at SK Rapid in Vienna and already enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere in the stadium during the home win against Blau Weiß Linz. I already know two of my new teammates, Nenad Cvetković and “Hari” Marcelin, from my time in Israel and hold them in high regard. I hope to play my first match in Green & White as soon as possible.”

Markus Katzer, the club’s Sports Director praised the new signing: “In Martin Ndzie, we are getting a typical number six. He impresses with his consistent challenges, winning duels both on the ground and in the air, and also has good passing skills and a calmness on the ball. When he has the ball at his feet, he is very difficult to dispossess. One of his qualities is his ability to cover his teammates in the offensive department. Despite his young age, he is a player who can help us quickly, and someone who our coaching staff around Peter Stöger are fully convinced by,” said the 45-year-old Viennese.

Ndzie, who counts two caps for Cameroon has settled for being the club’s new number 14 but being a non-EU citizen, it will require some time for him to obtain his playing licence.

He will be hoping to make the most of this move to Austria so as to enhance his chances of being in coach Marc Brys’ plans for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) scheduled for later this year in Morocco.
