Samuel Eto’o to finally Sign Contracts for Marc Brys’ Assistants

FECAFOOT President, Samuel Eto’o has confirmed on Wednesday August 6,2025 that he will sign the contracts of Marc Brys’ assistant coaches on Thursday, unlocking their pay and allowing them to finally take their place on the bench.

The announcement came just before the FECAFOOT General Assembly in Yaoundé.

Eto’o said: “Tomorrow I will be able to sign the contracts of Marc Brys’ assistants, and thanks to the Executive Committee, they will finally be able to start receiving their salaries.”

Since Brys’ arrival, his deputy Joakim Mununga has been stuck off the bench, caught in a contract deadlock that sidelined key coaching staff. This signing should end the impasse and get the full technical team back on the pitch.

The move comes after weeks of off-field drama, including an alleged resignation letter from Brys citing more than two months of unpaid wages. FECAFOOT has held firm that the federation alone runs the show for the Indomitable Lions, per its statutes.

While the Ministry of Sports initially threw Brys in the game without FECAFOOT’s nod, the federation later accepted him under strict terms though his backroom staff were left hanging without contracts or pay.

By penning these contracts, FECAFOOT is reclaiming control of the technical bench just in time for key AFCON qualifiers and upcoming fixtures. The Lions’ setup looks set to stabilize and get back into winning form.
