Manchester United beat fellow Premier League side West United this Sunday Morning at the MeltLife Stadium in New York courtesy of a brace from Bruno Fernandes while Jerry Bowen scored for the Hammers.

Reuben Amorim opted against the use of Cameroonian duo Andre Onana and Bryan Mbeumo in the pre-season friendly, but still had enough to beat David Moyes’ side in their second outing in preparations for the 2025/2026.

Despite his return to group training, Onana who is recovering from a hamstring problem wasn’t in the match day squad while recently signed Mbeumo was allowed to continue his familiarization off the pitch.

Looking to provide a reaction to their goalless draw against Leeds in the first pre-season game, United got inspired by skipper Bruno Fernandes who put them ahead as early as the fifth minute of the game to set the celebratory mood for their fans in the stadium.

Though United didn’t look top gear they were in charge more often than not and protected the advantage till the pause.

In an almost carbon copy of the start of the first segment, United scored early into the second half via a well dispatched penalty from Bruno to make it 2-0. Though West Ham pulled one back through Bowen but United rallied and kept it tight to secure a 2-1 win and their first victory of the pre-season.

United will face Bournemouth on July 31 as part of the continuation of the pre-season tour in the USA. Cameroonians will be hoping Onana and Mbeumo get some minutes in that contest.
