  • President Pierre Alain Mounguengui rewards U17 players with the sum of 500000 each
  •  The young Panthers who were eliminated from the African cup of nations qualifiers were honored with a ceremony of appreciation by FEGAFOOT’s President
  •  Will the same case be applied to the Gabonese women’s U17 and senior national team who came home with similar results?

As a token of appreciation and encouragement, the Gabonese Football Federation (FEGAFOOT) has rewarded the Gabonese national U17 team for their efforts in the recent UNIFFAC tournament. In Douala, Cameroon.

The young Panthers, who were eliminated from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, were honored in the presence of their proud parents. Despite their early exit from the tournament, FEGAFOOT President Pierre Alain Mounguengui acknowledged the team’s hard work during the UNIFFAC tournament, held from 16 to 28 of February 2025 and rewarded each player with the sum of 500,000 FCFA as a sign of appreciation for their commitment to representing Gabon on the international stage.

The ceremony, held at the Bikélé Technical Center, was an inspiring gesture for the young players and their families. Mounguengui praised the team’s resilience and determination, while also thanking the parents for entrusting their children to the federation for a month.

To boost the morale of the young players, Mounguengui stated, “You are now international players and have gained experience.”

However, it remains to be seen whether the same gesture will be extended to the U17 women’s national team and senior national team, who represented the country but failed to yield good results. This responsibility lies with the Ministry of Sports, led by Patrick Barbera Isaac, who is working to address the issue.
