- Andre Onana has won the award on the highest number of occasions since its inception
- He retained it this month after winning it in October as well
Manchester United’s Andre Onana has been awarded the Premier League Save of the Month for November 2024, following his outstanding save against Ipswich Town on November 24th.
This recognition marks his third Save of the Month award, making him the goalkeeper with the most wins since the award’s inception in the 2022/2023 season.
In a crucial moment during the match at Portman Road, Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap was poised to score after receiving a pinpoint pass from Leif Davis. Delap, unmarked in the penalty area, seemed certain to find the back of the net.
However, Onana’s quick reflexes and impeccable positioning allowed him to make a stunning save, diverting Delap’s shot with an outstretched arm and preserving a vital 1-1 draw for Manchester United.
This is Onana’s second Save of the Month award this season, following his remarkable double save against Crystal Palace in September.
Onana has won three save of the month awards (April, September, and November) highlighting his consistency and excellence in goalkeeping
The cameroon international’s latest accolade moves him ahead of other top goalkeepers such as Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale, and Robert Sanchez, who each have two Save of the Month awards.
The November Save of the Month award was determined by a combination of public votes and a panel of experts. Onana’s save topped a shortlist featuring six impressive saves by goalkeepers throughout the month, further cementing his reputation as a top-tier goalkeeper.
He is one of the top three goalkeepers in the running for the CAF goalkeeper of the year title.
Other winners for November include Mohamed Salah as the EA SPORTS FC Player of the Month, Arne Slot as the Barclays Football Manager of the Month, and Harry Wilson, who takes home the Guinness Goal of the Month award.
