Appointed Cameroon indomitable lions’ coach in the most difficult era, Marc Brys has defied all odds to beat the wind and qualify for Morocco 2025.
Marc Brys despite all difficulty and stumbling blocks has had an unbeaten run having to win five , draw three counting no loss in his first eight games in charge of the lions.
First this stands a record dating back 18years since last an indomitable lions coach won all his first eight games after assuming duty.
Marc Brys and his staff were appointed courtesy high instructions from the Presidency of the republic following assessment and approval of files by the Minister of Sports and Physical education.
The Cameroon Football Federation played down on the appointment with claims of not being aware of the MINSEP boss’ pick.
FECAFOOT had proposed three coaches in Herve Renard, Fabio Canavaro and Josep Poseiro but all were rejected by Minister Mouelle Kombi of MINSEP with inflated wages as to his reasons of disaccord.
FECAFOOT went on to appoint their own staff stirring a national saga as far as the staff of the indomitable lions was concerned.
Through this, we saw a battle between two camps of Pro MINSEP and Pro FECAFOOT and despite all this Marc Brys walked the walk in bravery with his objective of taking Cameroon to Morocco standing tall.
In a group made up of Namibia, Kenya and Zimbabwe,Marc Brys and his boys ensured they picked up 14points out of possible 18points without losing any game.
Nevertheless, the victories and qualification is not the only thing celebrated by Cameroon football fans but the new system and style of play is fancied by all as Marc Brys has primed the team into playing free flow football.
In his era we have seen players like Ngadeu, Bassogog who were almost out of the picture as far as the lions den is concerned get back into the good books of the indomitable lions present glory.
Deprived of his assistant coach Mununga during official games, Marc Brys’ cry for readjustment of the staff to be on the bench has fallen on barren ground. Despite all this Marc has still done his job.
With all eyes set for March where we have the next international break, fans ponder as to what holds the fate for Marc Brys in the lions’ den .
Many thought the supposed MINSEP- FECAFOOT battle was over, but still outings by Marc Brys with concerns of his assistant not being on the bench leaves us with a different impression.
Normally, with Cameroonians wanting the best out of Marc Brys’ management, hopes are on resolutions to this crisis surrounding the team so that the working atmosphere becomes free of negativity.
We can also actively argue that, if Marc Brys has been winning with a not really conducive atmosphere , what more will he then do when the working conditions are completely free of any problems ?
With the current form of the team and possibility of facing top ten African teams in time come, Marc Brys needs to put all his arsenal together .
Marc Brys has to improve his relationship with the federation and the federation should also embrace the entire staff which is the standard base for the smooth running of his functions and delivery of the team.
Also, the cry for his personal assistant, Mununga to be by him should be addressed with his video assistant going into deep action in order to have every play, player and teams well analyzed before and after games to boost performance in the finest way.
The attacking compartment has the most capped player and captain delivering better than anyone since the arrival of Marc Brys. Still the team needs another clinical striker and should the situation of Danny Namaso be addressed and his clearance to play sorted then he will be a great fit alongside Aboubakar upfront .
The pride of Cameroon football is better seen when our local players get the chance but this international break didn’t see any on board. We can excuse for the late start of the championship but with March upcoming obviously we will have a handful to pick from in order to give our local championship a name.
Technically we can say Marc Brys already has a defined starting team but then the reserve bench should be one with a healthy backup that can ascertain diversity and adaptability whenever need be.
Communication has always been key in every working avenue and should Marc Brys want a breathe of positivity he should quench the fire through his outings as far as issues around the team are concerned.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers continuing, Marc Brys should not let that be debatable because qualification should be a must. With Cameroon at the top of group D after four match days with 9points, Marc Brys and his team has to work on all aspects as far as the team is concerned in order to beat any opponent with nothing to hold back.
March has two crucial encounters with Cameroon to take on Eswatini and Libya and picking up all six points will be cementing the feet of the indomitable lions at the top of group D and obviously shortening the road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The job done so far by Marc Brys has given Cameroonians a reason to believe and pride national colors and the fans hope for the best and this time around with a less polluted atmosphere around the team.
