Lead Cameroonian Sports kits provider ‘KTL’ Wear have officially tabled a bid to become the Indomitable Lions kits producer and provider.
kick442.com has information in good authority showing the Yaoundé-based firm submitted their bid to FECAFOOT this Wednesday, September 25, barely days after the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) announced they were calling for tenders following the termination of their deal with One All Sports.
We understand KTL who kits over 30 clubs in Cameroon including this year’s cup of Cameroon finalists (Aigle Royal of Menoua and Colombe of Dja) submitted samples of what they plan to offer after the FECAFOOT headquarters in Tsinga after paying the minimum required caution fee of 250 000 FCFA.
The move from KTL means they join the likes of Edimo Design, SM design of Dr Claudelle Noubissi amongst others that have publicly shown interest in the rare opportunity.
KTL rose to prominence last two years ago when one of the first clubs to adopt the brand in Isle of Hope Sports Academy of Limbe dominated amateur football in the country and emerge champions of the national interpools. From that moment, the brand grew in attraction and market space, becoming kits provider for PWD of Bamenda, YOSA, Fauve Azur Elite, Colombe of Dja, Fovu of Baham, Astres of Douala amongst others.
These days, the market share has developed and encroached into Women’s football with the likes of FC Ebolowa, Ita Mbong FC and reigning Lekie Filles FC all being kitted by the the brand which also cloths a number of Athletes from other sporting federations.
Samuel Eto’o’s FECAFOOT came under huge scrutiny for previously terminating the Lecoq Sportif contract to bring One All Sports on board and that gamble didn’t pay off, leading to the second termination in two years. The second termination has caused tongues to wag with observers recommending that the federation finally entrust a local institution for the service which has been provided by only foreign companies in the past.
If KTL pulls this one off it would be their biggest deal since creation less than ten years ago.
A number of reputable brands have been mentioned as interested parties for the opportunity but we can’t independently confirm if they have tabled their bids or otherwise.
